Demand for advanced foot care nursing services continues to grow throughout the East Kootenay region, and appointment availability remains limited. Shelley is currently booking approximately six weeks in advance for many appointment types.

The good news is that Sole Relief is growing too.

Over the past year, we have continued to expand and train additional nurses to help meet the increasing need for medical foot care throughout our communities. Lorraine joined the Sole Relief team in early 2026 and has been gradually taking on clients several days a week, Kyah is working up to a couple days a week to help with our facility and Long Term Care clients allowing Shelley to increase her availability for more complex cases, new assessments, short-call appointments, and clients requiring more immediate attention.

Our administrative team maintains a short-call and cancellation list and works hard to fill openings as they become available.

We also ask clients to provide as much notice as possible when cancelling or rescheduling an appointment. Late cancellations and missed appointments prevent another client from accessing that time and may result in a fee in accordance with our Cancellation Policy.

Our goal at Sole Relief is simple: provide safe, professional foot care to as many people in our communities as possible. Giving us adequate notice when your plans change helps us offer that appointment to someone who may be waiting.

Growing access to foot care in our region means more than simply hiring additional staff. It also means helping develop more nurses with specialized foot care skills.

Sole Relief is proud to be a clinical training partner of the AFCN Learning Institute, one of Canada’s leading providers of foot care nurse education. We provide hands-on clinical training for nurses completing the Advanced Foot Care Nurse Series, helping LPNs and RNs translate their education into practical experience with real-world foot care nursing.

By participating in clinical education, Sole Relief is helping increase the number of qualified foot care nurses available to serve communities throughout the East Kootenays and beyond.
